Scentwork Training

Turn your dog’s natural instincts into a powerful outlet that builds connection, reduces overwhelm and actually tires them out.

Structured scentwork training from beginner foundations to advanced searches. Just 15–20 minutes of scentwork can tire your dog as much as a long walk.

Scentwork is one of the most rewarding activities you can do with your dog. It taps into their natural instincts while building focus, resilience and confidence.

At Snout and About, scentwork training is taught progressively, starting with clear foundations and developing into more complex searches and trial preparation.

Whether your goal is enrichment, confidence building or entering scentwork competitions, training is designed to support dogs and handlers at every stage.

Why Scentwork?

Dogs experience the world primarily through scent. When we give them structured opportunities to use that ability, we unlock a powerful outlet for both mental stimulation and emotional regulation.

Scentwork can help:

• Build calm focus
• Channel prey drive productively
• Increase confidence in anxious dogs
• Improve problem-solving ability
• Strengthen the bond between dog and handler
• Teach dogs to think clearly in stimulating environments

Scentwork is suitable for dogs of all breeds, ages and abilities.

This is for you…

If your dog:

  • Always has their nose glued to the ground

  • Never seems tired, no matter how far you walk

  • Pulls towards every scent and distraction

  • Feels like they need more than just daily walks

You’re not doing anything wrong.

Many dogs are naturally driven to use their nose, but without the right outlet, that energy has nowhere to go.

Scentwork gives your dog:

  • A mentally fulfilling outlet

  • A way to focus and problem-solve

  • A job that actually satisfies them

And it gives you:

  • A new way to engage with your dog

  • A shared activity you can enjoy together

  • A completely different experience to everyday walks
